Chapter 7 - Emilia

A month had passed following Emilia and Teron’s marriage and already the two of them had warded off ten demon attacks successfully. The attacks from the demons had been getting heavier and heavier as time went by, a lot more than anything they had ever experienced and it was completely unexplainable. No one could really tell why.

The days had been filled with a lot of work for Emilia and Teron as they had to constantly shuffle back and forth between their separate territories, as well as fight against the demons that kept attacking at a steady pace. Sometimes, the demon attacks would be in Emilia’s territory, the black dragon's territory, and other times they would be in Teron’s territory, so a constant back and forth between both territory’s leaders and soldiers was constantly ongoing. And each and every time, the union of both territories brought a swift and successful demolition of every attack.

In the midst of all the battles and successes, Emilia and Teron had constantly fought side by side, making sure to put up a completely united front before their people and their soldiers. They spent more and more time together outside, and when they were alone inside, occasionally tensions would rise and they had a few heated moments of passion. A couple of times, they had bumped into each other, and there had been a lingering touch or a look that lasted too long. Emilia would sometimes feel him staring intensely at her, or catch herself lost in a daze while staring at him as well.

However, neither of them had done anything or acted in these heated moments. They had not even kissed again. Time had passed with them spending so much time together and they had not once spoken about their personal feelings, moved their physical attraction or romance forward in any way, or even attempted to get to know each other better. They had simply remained working together in the most businesslike manner. Emilia felt as though their union was truly more an alliance than a marriage.

Despite how she tried to convince herself it didn’t matter, she would sometimes catch herself recalling their kiss. It hadn’t been so long since the kiss, but to Emilia it felt like it had been years since then. Sometimes, she would catch herself dreaming about the softness of his lips and the passion with which he had kissed her.

However, it shouldn’t have mattered at all. She felt it was okay; it didn’t matter that they hadn’t bothered to pursue their romance in any way. She truly respected Teron. He was indeed a great leader, he cared for his people and fought boldly for them. He was an honest man, firm in his values, and an extremely strong man as well. Also, he had respect for her as well. He respected her position, her boundaries, and he showed it.

And because of this, Emilia couldn’t help but start falling for him. She could feel it. Teron had started to have a hold on her emotions.
